Our client is a well-established company that operates fully-owned vessels with significant lifting capacities. These vessels can handle lifts from cargo barges offshore and offer an efficient operational execution, enabling the company to undertake large-scale and complex projects worldwide. Your mission

As an HSE Engineer, you will be the cornerstone of Health, Safety, and Environmental maters, working across projects and teams to embed a culture where safety is second nature, and environmental responsibility is a priority. You will ensure that every action taken, whether on land or at sea, meets the highest standards of safety and regulatory.

 

What you’ll be doing

  • Championing safety: Drive the “Work Safe, Home Safe” program, making safety more than just a protocol but a mindset.
  • Building strong systems: Support the seamless implementation of the HSE management system, ensuring it’s robust, relevant, and responsive to changing needs.
  • Client liaison: Be the go-to expert for clients on all HSE-related matters, building trust and ensuring transparency.
  • Field engagement: Engage directly with vessels, worksites, and suppliers. You will guide them in navigating HSE processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Risk management: Manage HSE risks with precision, ensuring critical controls are verified and effective.
  • Facilitation and collaboration: Lead risk review sessions, uniting clients, worksites, and suppliers under a common goal—safety and excellence.
  • Incident investigation: When incidents occur, you’ll be there to investigate, learn, and ensure they’re never repeated.
  • Audit and inspection: Conduct thorough audits and inspections, whether onshore or offshore, to maintain the highest standards.
  • Training and development: Share your expertise through training sessions, ensuring everyone is up to speed and confident in HSE protocols.
  • Compliance and reporting: Maintain legal compliance registers, deliver project HSE documents, and report performance metrics to the leadership team.
  • Continuous improvement: Capture lessons learned, using them to refine approaches and drive innovation in HSE practices.

 

Your qualifications

 It’s your dedication and energy that will fuel success. Here’s what we’re looking for in the next HSE Engineer:

  • Educational background: A degree or equivalent experience is essential. HSE qualifications like NEBOSH are a big plus and can even be earned on the job.
  • Industry experience: Experience in the maritime, offshore construction, or renewable wind sector is advantageous.
  • Technical skills: Familiarity with ISO 45001 safety management systems, legal compliance, and risk management is key. Auditor qualifications are a bonus.
  • Communication excellence: Your reports are clear, concise, and compelling—making complex ideas understandable for everyone.
  • Proactive approach: You don’t wait for safety issues to arise; you anticipate and address them head-on.
  • Interpersonal skills: You’re a natural communicator, able to collaborate effectively with clients, suppliers, and colleagues alike.
